On Thursday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) condemned an alleged ISIS-inspired plot to use an explosive device to attack the New York State Capitol after federal authorities arrested and charged an Albany woman in connection with the scheme.

Mamdani Condemns Alleged New York Capitol Terror Plot

Mamdani called the alleged plot “deeply alarming” in a post on X, while sharing a statement from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) about heightened security measures at the State Capitol.

“There is no place for terrorism or political violence, in our city, our state or anywhere in our country,” Mamdani wrote.

The alleged ISIS-inspired plot to attack the New York State Capitol and kill elected officials and others is deeply alarming. I am grateful to our federal and state law enforcement authorities for their vigilance and work to keep New Yorkers safe.

In her post, Hochul said additional security measures were implemented at the Capitol earlier this year amid an increase in political violence and threats against public officials.

She added that there was no immediate threat but that authorities would continue working with law enforcement partners to protect New Yorkers.

Bowie Faces Up To 20 Years In Prison If Convicted

According to federal officials, Bowie allegedly pledged allegiance to ISIS through audio recordings and conducted surveillance of the Capitol at least five times, taking photographs of the building, CNN reported.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig Tremaroli said Bowie allegedly wanted “to destroy as much of the building as possible and kill the senators while they are meeting.”

Authorities said she also obtained materials she believed could be used to make an explosive device.

Federal investigators said Bowie was radicalized online and had posted anti-American messages. The investigation involved the FBI, Secret Service, New York State Police and Albany police.

According to John Sarcone, first assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York, Bowie faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and lifetime supervised release if convicted.

Building Wealth Across More Than Just the Market

Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That’s why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn’t tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.

Arrived

Backed by Jeff Bezos, Arrived Homes makes real estate investing accessible with a low barrier to entry. Investors can buy fractional shares of single-family rentals and vacation homes starting with as little as $100. This allows everyday investors to diversify into real estate, collect rental income, and build long-term wealth without needing to manage properties directly.
