The Jets have reached the final week of training camp and only one preseason contest remains before the 2026 regular season starts. Practices shifted into the afternoon for the Green & White and head coach Aaron Glenn has continued to test the team.
“I think AG does a really good job of challenging us and working us when we’re working,” S Minkah Fitzpatrick said. “The way our schedule is set up is not to burn us out, it’s to make sure we maximize our work time.”
Monday was the “hardest practice” for Glenn as a head coach because of all the different situation the Jets went through. Practice concluded with a two-minute end of half situation, which started on the offense’s 30-yard line. QB Geno Smith led the first-team unit connecting with WR Garrett Wilson and TE Mason Taylor twice.
“I thought Geno [Smith] did a hell of a job of getting his guys in the end zone,” Glenn said. “Excited about that, excited about the direction, we still have a lot of work to do.”
Olu Fashanu was called for a false start on the fifth play of the drive, which backed up the offense to the 18-yard line. But on the next play, Smith threaded a pass up the middle right to rookie WR Omar Cooper Jr. for the touchdown.
“I’m not surprised that he made that play at the end. I’m not surprised at the plays that he made in the game, and I know they’re limited, but he’s made some plays,” Glenn said of Cooper. “Man, every day he’s just improving. His personality and type of player he is, I mean that’s just going to happen anyways because he’s not going to be the guy that sits back and not do the things to help himself get better.”
