Back from a ‘very restorative’ vacation, Mamdani launches effort to renew NYC’s parks

Fresh off a week away upstate that he described as “very restorative,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani returned Monday with a plan to give New York City’s parks a little renewal of their own.

City Hall launched the Parks Department’s new “Renew Crew,” a 24-person team of painters, electricians, plumbers and other trade specialists focused on making faster repairs at playgrounds, recreation centers and sports courts across the five boroughs.
