Aug. 15 – Tampering with a motor vehicle on the 5400 block of Emerson Avenue North.

– Fifth-degree assault at a home on the 6400 block of Willow Lane North and the 6900 block of Indiana Avenue North.

Aug. 16 – Theft by swindle at a home on the 500 block of 55th Avenue North.

– Fifth-degree assault at a gas/service store on the 1900 block of 57th Avenue North.

Aug. 17 – Theft at a drug store/doctor’s office/hospital on the 6300 block of Brooklyn Boulevard.

Aug. 19 – Driving under the influence at a gas station on the 5800 block of 96th Avenue North.

– Theft at a grocery store on the 8000 block of Lakeland Avenue North.

– Assault at a multi-family residence on the 8500 block of 63rd Avenue North.

– Theft at a convenience store on the 7500 block of West Broadway.

– Assault at the community center on the 7100 block of Zane Avenue North.

– Damage to property at a lot on the 9700 block of Schreiber Terrace North.

– Theft at a home on the 8000 block of Zane Avenue.

– Assault at a multifamily residence on the 8900 block of Dunbar Knoll North and the 7500 block of Kentucky Avenue North.

– Theft from a multifamily residence on the 8400 block of Regent Avenue North.

Included in the Brooklyn Park Police Department’s emergency alerts were these incidents:

Aug. 14 – At 3:33 p.m. officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired outside a business in the 7600 block of Brooklyn Boulevard. The investigation showed that two unknown suspects fired at several parties and fled the scene in a vehicle. The victims also left prior to officers’ arrival. Numerous shell casings were recovered. Hennepin County CSI processed the scene. No injuries were were reported related to this incident. The investigation is ongoing. 

Aug. 15 – At 3:13 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing at the Willows Apartments in the 6000 block of 65th Avenue North. Officers located the victim and provided first aid until EMS arrived. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Officers were unable to determine if the injuries were stab wounds or not. The victim was only willing to provide limited information. Witnesses gave several conflicting accounts. Officers checked the area for additional evidence, there were no arrests, and the investigation continues.  

– At 3:11 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash at Pearson and Sierra parkways. Two children riding an e-bike and a car collided. Both children were transported by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle stayed and cooperated with the investigation. There was no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision.  The investigation into the crash is ongoing.  

Aug. 16 – At 7:49 p.m., the fire department responded to the 6300 block of Boone Avenue North for a garage fire. First-arriving units found a row of detached garages with heavy fire in a center unit extending to four adjacent garages and heavy smoke issuing from multiple others. Automatic/mutual aid was provided by Plymouth, Maple Grove and West Metro fire departments. The fire was brought under control approximately six minutes from the arrival of Brooklyn Park Engine 3. Crews remained on the scene for approximately 2.5 hours completing overhaul in the structure. There was one minor injury to a firefighter and one minor injury to a civilian.

Aug. 19 – At approximately 4:15 a.m., in the 8300 block of Zane Avenue North, officers conducted a welfare check on a male and female found sleeping in a vehicle. During the contact, officers learned that a valid order for protection was in place, prohibiting the male from having any contact with the female. Officers separated the individuals, but before they could take the male into custody, he fled the scene in the vehicle. Officers pursued the suspect into Crystal; however, the pursuit was terminated due to the risk his driving behavior posed to the public. The suspect has been positively identified, and efforts to locate him remain ongoing.
