Detectives in the Bronx are investigating what they call a suspicious death after a man was dropped off at a local hospital on Monday afternoon with severe head trauma.
According to police sources, officers from the 52nd Precinct were called to Montefiore Einstein Hospital, located at 111 East 210th St. in Norwood, just before 4 p.m. on Aug. 24 after a 60-year-old man was brought to the medical center with serious injuries to the head and hip.
Sources familiar with the investigation reported that the person who left him at the medical facility did not stay at the scene.
Despite efforts by medical staff, the man could not be saved, and he was later pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.
Police have yet to deem the incident a homicide, and the investigation remains ongoing. Based on a preliminary investigation, authorities believe the deceased had been involved in a verbal dispute before being brought to the hospital.
No arrests have been made in the case as of Tuesday morning, police reported.
