DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — ONE HIGHLIGHT OF this week’s annual Brooklyn 6G Summit, co-sponsored by Nokia and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, was the granting of the Wireless Pioneer Award to UCLA scientist Leonard Kleinrock. Kleinrock, 91, was instrumental in developing ARPANET in the 1960s and ‘70s, the technology that grew into the internet and which underpins all of today’s telecommunications advances.

A VIP dinner reception was held on the Brooklyn riverfront celebrating Kleinrock’s contributions on the mathematical theory of packet networks and other communications innovations.
