One of New York City’s hottest sports tickets is about to get a lot more affordable.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the United States Tennis Association are setting aside 1,000 discounted seats for the 2026 U.S. Open, giving city residents a chance to experience the tournament at a significantly lower price.
The special allotment goes on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET through USOpen.org/NYCTickets, with each resident able to purchase up to two tickets for $100 each for main draw matches from Aug. 30 through Sept. 8.
The offer covers Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and grounds passes.
Mamdani said the goal is to make sure New Yorkers can enjoy world‑class tennis without facing the steep costs that often accompany major sporting events.
“This summer, we have shown again and again that sports belong to the people. From the World Cup to track and field championships, we have opened stadium doors to some of the biggest sporting events in the world so more New Yorkers can enjoy them. Today, we are doubling down on that work by making the U.S. Open more affordable for New Yorkers,” Mamdani said. “If the world’s best tennis players are coming to our city, New Yorkers should be able to see them play.”
This would not be the first time the mayor has worked to make major sporting moments more accessible for New Yorkers.
Earlier this summer, he helped city residents secure free tickets to the Knicks championship ceremony at City Hall, an event that drew thousands of fans celebrating the team’s historic run. He also supported a World Cup ticket lottery that gave New Yorkers a chance to enter for low‑cost seats to matches played in the city.
The U.S. Open runs in Flushing Meadows from Aug. 30 through Sept. 13.
