New Yorkers are lining up for Greek frozen yogurt this summer. Good news, Montclair: You don’t have to.
Somedays Bakery started serving Kostantina Greek Frozen Yogurt in August, bringing one of NYC’s buzziest summer food trends right here to Montclair. The new concept comes from the same team behind Somedays and opened its first shop in Forest Hills, Queens, this summer.
Montclair already has plenty of traditional frozen yogurt options. But Somedays is the only place in town that offers the Greek version.
As a Greek-American who has eaten and loved Greek yogurt my whole life, I had to try it.
I’ve never been a fan of fro-yo. I’d much rather have ice cream or gelato. But this is different. Kostantina actually tastes like Greek yogurt — thick, creamy and tangy — just frozen.
That tanginess is what won me over. It’s not nearly as sweet as traditional fro-yo, so you can actually taste the Greek yogurt.
The menu keeps it simple: Classic Greek, Mango (a dairy-free option made with coconut) or a swirl of both. There’s one size: a 9-ounce cup.

Then come the toppings. Go Greek with pistachios, peanut butter kataifi and a drizzle of honey or olive oil. Or add fresh fruit, blueberry compote, granola or coconut flakes.
Want to go sweeter? Choose brownie bites, cheesecake bites, chocolate chips, salted caramel and chocolate or strawberry sauce.
I’ve tried it twice so far: Classic Greek with pistachios and honey the first time, then peanut butter kataifi and blueberry compote on my second visit.
I loved both, which clearly means I have more menu research to do. And I already know what I want next: Kostantina recently offered a special in New York topped with a piece of baklava. I’m officially requesting the Montclair version.
The frozen yogurt costs $9, and toppings run $1 to $2 each, so the price can climb quickly once you start piling them on. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but you get a very generous cup of yogurt and toppings.
And speaking of the cup: It’s all served in the iconic blue-and-white Anthora NYC Greek diner coffee cup. My dad worked in diners his whole life, so that detail gets extra points from this Greek girl.

With the same team behind Kostantina and Somedays, bringing the Greek frozen yogurt to Somedays locations for August was a natural fit — and gave Montclair a chance to get in on the craze without getting on NJ Transit.
And apparently, Montclair is into it.
Peter Phillips, co-founder and CEO of Somedays and Kostantina Greek Frozen Yogurt, told Montclair Local that the response has been so strong that the August pop-up is officially sticking around for another month.
“It’s been extremely well received,” Phillips said. “So much so that we’ve decided to extend the collab through the end of September and are considering making it a permanent addition to the menu.”
So, good news: You no longer have to rush over before August ends.
And even better news? If Montclair keeps eating Greek fro-yo, it might just stick around for good.
