Co-created by Mona Pirnot and Jack D. Coen, the play with music will be presented by Atlantic Theater Company for one month only starting in mid-October.
Atlantic Theater Company has named casting for its Off-Broadway production of I Became We, a new play with music written by Obie Award winner Mona Pirnot. Performances run at Atlantic’s Linda Gross Theater from October 16 to November 15 only, with opening night on October 27.
Loosely inspired by Pirnot’s own experiences, I Became We features a 16-person choir performing a monologue about a 30something woman facing a major life decision. The show has contemporary lyrics by Pirnot and Jack D. Coen, set to a classical choral-style score by Cohen.
The onstage choir includes Alison Cheeseman, Paul Chew MinChul, Oliver Holt, Heather Jones, Helen Karloski, Chad Kranak, Katie McCreary, Neil Netherly, Logan Pitts, Carrie Quarquesso, AnnMarie Sandy, Michael Steinberger, Gergorio Taniguchi, Tyler Tejada, Elizabeth van Os, and Jen Wu. Additional I Became We cast members have yet to be announced.
The show also has direction by Sarah Benson, sets by Mimi Lien, costumes by Louisa Thompson, lights by Tuce Yasak, sound by Palmer Hefferan, choral casting by Margery Daley, and musical direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Jack D. Coen.
