Annual event at Crystal Springs Resort continues decade-long partnership that has raised more than $2.7 million for wounded veterans

The New York City District Council of Carpenters (NYCDCC) will host its 11th Annual Charity Golf Outing on Friday, August 14, at Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, New Jersey. This year’s outing will include a donation of $200,000 to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW), bringing the District Council’s cumulative contributions to more than $2.7 million since the partnership began in 2015.

“Supporting our veterans and giving back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country is important to us, especially with so many veterans among our own membership,” said Paul Capurso, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the New York City District Council of Carpenters. “We are proud to stand alongside Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, putting our skills to work building homes that restore independence, dignity, and opportunity for these heroes and their families.”

JAH4WW was founded by former NFL defensive end Jared Allen to provide wounded veterans with homes tailored to their physical needs, helping them and their families live more safely and independently following life-changing injuries sustained in military service. The annual event brings together union members, contractors, sponsors, community partners, and supporters to raise funds for the organization.

Among the veterans supported through JAH4WW is Sergeant Daniel Rose, a U.S. Army combat engineer who was paralyzed from the chest down after an IED struck his vehicle during a route clearance mission in Afghanistan. Five years after his injury, Rose was able to walk with the help of an exoskeleton suit and has continued to serve his community through his involvement with a nonprofit. He now looks forward to a home designed to provide greater independence and comfort for him and his family.
