Casting has been revealed for the Atlantic Theater Company of Obie Award winner Mona Pirnot‘s I Became We. Obie Award winner Sarah Benson will direct the world premiere, running October 16 through November 15 at the Off-Broadway theatre. An official opening night is set for October 27.
The play, a first-person monologue performed by a 16-person choir, centers on a woman in her mid-30s wrestling with one of life’s most important decisions. The work will feature plainspoken, contemporary language sung in the stylings of classical choral music. Pirnot and Jack D. Coen wrote the lyrics.
The cast will include Alison Cheeseman, Paul Chew MinChul, Oliver Holt, Heather Jones, Helen Karloski, Chad Kranak, Katie McCreary, Neil Netherly, Logan Pitts, Carrie Quarquesso, AnnMarie Sandy, Michael Steinberger, Gergorio Taniguchi, Tyler Tejada, Elizabeth van Os, and Jen Wu, with further casting to be announced.
The production will feature sets by Mimi Lien, costumes by Louisa Thompson, lights by Tuce Yasak, sound by Palmer Hefferen, choral casting by Margery Daley, and musical direction, orchestrations and arrangements by Jack D. Coen. Tyler Crow will serve as the production stage manager.
