Hochul opens new FFA building as 2026 New York State Fair begins

GEDDES, N.Y. — Governor Kathy Hochul cut the ribbon on the new Future Farmers of America building at the New York State Fairgrounds on Wednesday.

The ribbon-cutting coincided with the first day of the 2026 Great New York State Fair. The new building features 10,500 square feet of space. Governor Hochul said it will help develop the next generation of agricultural leaders and support agricultural education.

“I can’t think of a better way to kick off the 2026 Great New York State Fair than by celebrating the opening of a brand new FFA Building, which will allow more young people to learn about and contribute to this important industry while also providing fairgoers an opportunity to get closer to agriculture,” said Governor Hochul. “As we open the gates today, I encourage visitors from near and far to explore all that the Great New York State Fair has to offer.”

The new building can be found on the west end of the fairgrounds.

It’s part of a $34.7 million investment in agricultural facilities at the fair. Ground was broken on the building in Spring 2025.
