The New York City Center Gala production of Bat Boy: The Musical, which played the Manhattan venue October 29–November 8, 2025, was recorded in April 2026 and will be released in digital and streaming formats August 28 by Ghostlight Records and Yellow Sound Label.

Playbill has a first listen to the opening number, “Hold Me, Bat Boy,” which can be heard above and features Gabi Carrubba, Andrew Durand, John-Michael Lyles, Olivia Puckett, Keythe Farley, Brian Flemming, and Laurence O’Keefe. A CD ofBat Boy: The Musical (New York City Center Cast Recording) will be released later this year. 

Bat Boy features a score by Tony nominee O’Keefe and a book by Farley and Flemming.
This new album features several new songs by the original creators, and expanded
orchestrations for 12 musicians by O’Keefe and Ben Green.

Inspired by a popular tabloid article from the 1990s, the musical gained cult classic status when it premiered Off-Broadway in 2001.

The musical follows Bat Boy, also known as Edgar, who is discovered in a cave and adopted by a local West Virginia family. He wants nothing more than to be accepted by
his new community and works hard to appeal to their “Christian
Charity.” But will his insatiable bloodlust be his undoing?

New York City Center’s Gala production was directed by two-time Tony winner Alex Timbers, with music direction by Andrew Resnick and choreography by Connor Gallagher.
