(CNN) – A New York teenager and her mother are among those missing amid the catastrophic flash flooding in Nepal.
Fourteen-year-old Rashi Shashidharan and her 54-year-old mother, Rekha Shashidharan, are unaccounted for.
The teenager’s uncle said the two had been traveling in the region. He said he last spoke to them about an hour before the floods struck.
More than 1,300 people are missing, with that number including at least 700 foreigners.
The death toll is more than 460.
The cause of the disaster hasn’t yet been confirmed, but the U.S. Geological Survey said it may have been the result of a glacial collapse and resulting landslide. A glacial collapse occurs when a piece of ice breaks off a glacier and goes down a slope.
