Brooklyn, NY (August 28, 2026) – Three teenagers died and four other people were hospitalized after two SUVs collided on the Belt Parkway near 86th Street in Bay Ridge late Tuesday, August 25.
New York Police said the crash happened around 11:33 p.m. as both vehicles traveled eastbound. One SUV moved into the right lane to pass slower traffic, then slowed behind another vehicle ahead, when it was struck from behind by the second SUV.
The impact sent the lead vehicle into a guardrail before it spun and rolled over. The 18-year-old driver and two passengers, ages 17 and 16, were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Two other passengers in the same SUV, ages 18 and 16, survived. Two women in their 40s from the second vehicle were also hospitalized. All four are expected to recover.
Investigators are continuing to piece together the sequence of events.
