WESTERN BROOKLYN— THE NEW YORK CITY Health Department will conduct mosquito control spraying in parts of western Brooklyn on Monday to reduce the risk of West Nile virus, which can cause illness and, in some cases, death. The city has detected virus activity and elevated adult mosquito populations in these ZIP codes: 11203, 11204,11215, 11217, 11218, 11219, 11220, 11225, 11226, 11232 and 11238.
Trucks will spray with Duet mosquito control product between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning. (The rain date is Tuesday.) People with respiratory conditions may wish to stay indoors, if possible, and close air conditioner vents or set to the recirculate function. Bring in or cover children’s outdoor toys.
The Health Department recommends staying indoors at dusk, wearing an approved insect repellent and removing standing water. Additional information is available at nyc.gov/health/wnv.
