11/7; 3:30 p.m.—New York State Police identified the deceased driver of the Jeep as Quinntin Walker, 35, of Ithaca.
The driver of the Ford, Mark Jean, 47, of Fulton, is in a medically induced coma.
Nicholas Malone, 46, of Syracuse, a passenger in the Ford, is conscious but in critical condition.
Both are being treated at Upstate Hospital.
The Thruway has opened back up in both directions.Â

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened on the Thruway in Oneida County around 2:25 this morning.
They said a vehicle was going eastbound in the westbound lane.
Troopers followed the car for about 12 miles, trying to stop the driver, but the Jeep struck a 2018 Ford pickup, head on.
The driver of that Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the Ford were airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
There is no indication of how long westbound lanes in the area will be closed down.
A diversion is set up at Exit 32 westbound.Â
