Queen Rania of Jordan is celebrating her 56th birthday with a striking new official portrait, released just weeks after the arrival of two new members of the royal family.

The Jordanian Queen turns 56 on Monday, August 31, following an especially joyful summer. On August 14, her daughter Princess Iman and husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis welcomed twin girls, Talia and Rania, making Queen Rania a grandmother of four.

Released by the Royal Hashemite Court to mark her birthday, Rania’s new portrait shows a more relaxed side of the royal. Dressed simply in jeans and a white T-shirt, she appears effortlessly elegant as she enters a new year surrounded by a growing family.

On August 14, the Royal Hashemite Court announced that Princess Iman and her husband, Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, had welcomed twin daughters. Their arrival made Queen Rania a proud grandmother of four.

The babies were named Talia and Rania, with baby Rania sharing her maternal grandmother’s name in a touching family tribute.

Days after their birth, Queen Rania shared intimate family photos of herself and King Abdullah cradling the newborns. Princess Salma and Prince Hashem also appeared in the sweet snapshots.

“Healthy, happy, and finally here. We’ve waited so long to meet you, Talia and Rania,” the Queen wrote on social media, capturing the family’s excitement over the twins’ arrival.

With four grandchildren, Rania and Abdullah are embracing a new season of royal family life, one increasingly shaped by its youngest generation.
