Major disruptions are affecting A, B, C and D train service amid the Monday morning commute after crews discovered cracks underneath the trackbed during planned weekend work, according to the MTA.
The cracks were uncovered at 81st Street and Central Park West, requiring additional maintenance work that is expected to keep downtown local service between 125th Street and 59th Street-Columbus Circle out of service into the afternoon hours.
There is no downtown local service between those stations.
Downtown B and C trains will be running express through the area, skipping all local stops.
Uptown A, B, C and D trains will be operational with delays, according to the MTA. B and C trains will be making all uptown local stops.
Crews are demolishing and replacing tracks in the area, which requires significant shoring because of the cracks underneath the trackbed. Temporary maintenance was performed Sunday night and Monday morning, while permanent repairs will be scheduled for a later date.
The MTA recommends that customers who normally use the A, B, C and D lines in Manhattan consider the 1, 2 and 3 trains as an alternative and allow extra travel time.
