Police are looking for the Bronx subway slasher who attacked a man holding open an emergency gate at a station on Monday morning.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded at around 6:42 a.m. on Aug. 31 inside the West 170th Street subway station on the 4 line off Jerome Avenue.
Cops say a 37-year-old man was holding open the emergency gate when he got into an argument with another man. The beef turned bloody when the suspect brandished a sharp object and slashed the victim across the face, arm, and abdomen.
Officers from NYPD Transit District 11 and paramedics received a 911 call reporting that a person had been attacked with a knife and responded to the incident. EMS rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator, who was described as wearing all black, fled the scene on foot. No arrests have been made.

Emergency gates near the turnstiles are often held open by individuals trying to evade the fare; others use them when paying the fare to move strollers, wheelchairs, or large items through. Under MTA policy, no one should open the emergency gate without the consent of a police officer or an MTA employee.
