Brooklyn thrill-seekers can now put their money where their slime-covered mouths are.
Beat The Bomb, the immersive social gaming venue that launched in Brooklyn in 2017, announced last week the launch of Cash Bomb, its newest and final mission — and the only one that comes with an actual cash prize.
The company was founded by Alex Patterson, a Brooklyn Heights native and former corporate lawyer who went on to work in several roles at Tough Mudder, the Dumbo-based obstacle-course company. That experience helped shape Beat The Bomb’s emphasis on teamwork and physical activity, Patterson said in a 2022 interview with BK Reader.
Rather than having players sit behind a screen, he designed Beat The Bomb as a real-life video game, with rooms that can be reprogrammed to create different gaming experiences. The company’s original location on Water Street combines those interactive challenges with the threat of getting blasted by paint, foam or slime — a formula that has since expanded to locations around the country.
Teams that make it through the new challenge will take home $1,000, along with limited-edition Bomb Squad bomber jackets and a spot on the Cash Bomb Champions leaderboard.
But there’s a catch: Players have to earn their way to the big-money mission first.
Cash Bomb is available only to teams that have already beaten Beat The Bomb’s three classic missions — Paint Bomb, Foam Bomb and Slime Bomb. Teams consist of four to six players, though only the person booking the mission needs to have completed all three qualifying challenges.
“For years, players have asked us, ‘What do we get if we beat all three Missions?’” Patterson said in a statement. “Cash Bomb is our answer. Beat Paint, Foam and Slime and you unlock the final challenge — with $1,000 on the line. But this time, the Bomb also fights back.”
The new mission features four original games before players enter the final Bomb Room, where they will have to pilot a spaceship through a 3D obstacle course while getting blasted with paint, foam and slime.
The qualifying games include Fruit Frenzy, in which players race around the room collecting and delivering fruit; Super Avoidance, which has players dodge incoming obstacles; Pixel Pushers, a team challenge involving robots and cubes; and Laser Freeze, where players navigate dancing laser patterns.
Then comes Space Race, the final Bomb Room challenge.
Teams earn time on their Bomb Clock by completing the four games, which they can then use during the final challenge. Beat The Bomb says the bomb will respond with escalating blasts of paint, foam and slime.

Cash Bomb also marks the launch of Bombie Rewards, a new loyalty program named after Beat The Bomb’s mascot, Bombie the Bombster. Players earn 1,000 Bombie Points for every Bomb Mission they play and 500 bonus points for every mission they win.
Points can be redeemed for rewards including free tickets, apparel, food and drinks, professionally edited videos and footage from game-room missions.
“Beat The Bomb has blasted over a million players with paint, foam and slime,” Patterson said. “Bombie Rewards is our way of thanking those players and giving them more reasons to come back.”
The first Cash Bomb attempt is free for qualified players. Subsequent attempts cost $59.95 per person. Bookings must be made at least three days in advance, and all players must be at least 18 years old.
