Police in New York are asking the public’s help in locating a man who went missing nearly a month ago while camping in the Adirondacks.
New York State Police officials said they were notified of a possible missing person on August 17. The missing man is Craig K. Streeter, 73, of Mahopac, New York.
State police responded to campsite 36 on Moose River Road in Inlet, New York, after a recreational vehicle was located with no known activity. A preliminary investigation determined the RV belonged to Streeter, who police said is known to travel and camp in remote areas.
The town of Inlet is located among the Fulton Chain of Lakes, a roughly 16-mile chain of eight lakes in the western Adirondacks.

New York State Forest Rangers were the first to locate the RV. After they were unable to locate Streeter, additional law enforcement agencies were requested to assist with the search. The search remains active and is being conducted by multiple agencies.
Police said there are currently no indications of foul play.
Streeter was reportedly last seen on August 2, 2026, at Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake, New York. He was wearing a dark-colored long-sleeve shirt and jeans and left the location traveling in his RV.
Police said that due to Streeter’s lifestyle and frequent travel to remote camping areas, it was not uncommon for him to be out of contact for long periods of time.
Anyone who was camping or traveling in the area of Moose River Road or nearby remote camping areas between August 2 and August 7, 2026, and may have seen Streeter or has any information regarding his whereabouts or this incident, is asked to contact the New York State Police at 518-897-2000.
