Blank Forms announces new 8,000-square-foot New York space · News ⟋ RAThe experimental music non-profit is marking its tenth anniversary with a new home at 151 Lafayette Street and a $1 million capital campaign.
Blank Forms is moving into a new 8,000-square-foot space at 151 Lafayette Street in New York’s Soho neighbourhood.
The new venue will see the experimental music and arts non-profit, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, bring its performance, exhibition, publishing and archival activities under one roof. Renovations are being led by Bench Architecture.
The open-plan loft will include a performance space, gallery, bookstore, archive and library, alongside a café. The new performance room will accommodate larger live events, with Onken speakers installed as part of the venue’s sound system.
The move is being supported by a $1 million capital campaign, covering the renovation as well as Blank Forms’ ongoing operations and programming. Its first season at the new space will include work by Laurie Spiegel, Keiji Haino, Éliane Radigue and Isaiah Collier, alongside a partnership with Kou Records. .
Blank Forms was founded in 2016 and has operated from a smaller space in Clinton Hill. It has since presented more than 300 concerts and public programmes, organised 20 exhibitions, published 27 books and more than 65 records, and developed a growing portfolio of artist archives and estates.
