Live from Staten Island! New Yorkers looking for an unusual night out will soon have the chance to trade the city streets for a floating comedy club, hosted by two iconic NYC comedians.
Snapple will transform the decommissioned Staten Island Ferry partially owned by comedians Pete Davidson and Colin Jost into the “Snapple Island Ferry,” a one-night-only comedy event on Sept. 17.
The free event will feature a 60-minute comedy show hosted by Davidson and Jost, with sets from some of comedy’s rising stars. The ferry will also offer guests Snapple beverages and snacks.
“Turning the ferry into a floating comedy club with Snapple makes more sense than anything else we considered, and it still doesn’t make much sense,” Pete Davidson said in a statement. “Either way, we’re giving people a chance to take a break, have a laugh and do something completely ridiculous with us.”
The event is part of a partnership with Snapple designed to give New Yorkers a break from their busy fall schedules. The brand described the ferry as a way to turn a familiar vessel into an unexpected entertainment venue.
“The Snapple Island Ferry is a simple idea with a big payoff: take what people already love about Snapple’s personality and bring it to life in the real world,” Derek Dabrowski, SVP of brand marketing at Keurig Dr Pepper, said in a statement. “The brand has always had a refreshingly funny take on the everyday, and comedy gives us a clear way to bring that to life — by giving people a timely, entertaining break from the things they feel like they should be doing.”
The ferry gained renewed attention after Davidson and Jost purchased the vessel at auction in 2022. The comedians’ ownership of the decommissioned ferry is now serving as the inspiration for the temporary comedy venue. Since then, the ferry has sparked major debate about its future and proposed uses, with the ambitious plans to transform it into a floating entertainment venue stalling and the vessel becoming a costly running joke. More recently, proposals to bring the ferry to Manhattan’s South Street Seaport have drawn concerns from community and preservation groups.
Davidson, a Staten Island native who attended Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge, has maintained ties to Brooklyn — and was recently spotted filming his upcoming movie “Tommy Karate” in Bay Ridge and Coney Island.
The Snapple Island Ferry will be docked at Pier 17 at 89 South St. in Manhattan for the event. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with the comedy show set to begin at 8:30 p.m.
Free tickets will be released daily at 3 p.m. ET from Sept. 3 through Sept. 8. Fans can claim a pair of tickets for themselves and one guest, with a limit of one pair per person.
The lineup of comedians has not yet been announced. Snapple said the performers will be revealed on its social media channels ahead of the event.
