The southernmost block of Ashland Place recorded 27 reported crashes between September 2023 and the end of 2025, injuring nine people, including five cyclists, according to city crash data.
A rider traveling between Sunset Park and DUMBO can now use a continuous protected route rather than encountering a break on Ashland Place.
That connection also links riders to routes toward Manhattan, North Brooklyn and Western Queens.
The City plans additional bike-lane redesigns around Ashland Place, including sections of Fourth Avenue and Lafayette Avenue, according to council member Lincoln Restler.
