On August 31, 2026, the launch of the second round of the Building Recreational Infrastructure for Communities, Kids and Seniors capital grant program was announced in New York State.
This initiative will make $75 million available to municipalities and nonprofit organizations in the Empire State for building, renovating, and modernizing community centers across New York State.
The funding in the Fiscal Year 2027 Enacted Budget by Governor Hochul is designed to support community centers, promoting physical health, mental well-being, and connections among youth and older adults, according to the announcement.

This second round will provide grants ranging from $250,000 to $15 million for projects that build or improve community centers. Priority will be given to projects in underserved communities.
The Governor’s announcement notes that Eligible projects include design, construction, reconstruction, major renovations, improvements, modernization, and rehabilitation.
Beginning November 2, 2026, applications will be accepted through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York Grants Application Portal and must be submitted by 3 p.m. on December 7, 2026. Applications will be evaluated based on project need, impact, and viability.
The Request for Applications and supporting materials for the second round of NY BRICKS are now available at Dasny.org/bricks and parks.ny.gov. A webinar for potential applicants will be posted by September 14, 2026, and questions must be submitted by September 30, 2026, with answers posted by October 26, 2026.
