GEDDES, N.Y. — The Great New York State Fairgrounds are closed due to flooding.

The fair sent out the alert around 11:36 a.m. on Wednesday as storms causing heavy rain moved through the area.

The fair said all of its gates are now exit-only. People are told not to enter the fairgrounds.

Anyone inside the fairgrounds who is not able to exit is asked to find the nearest building and shelter in place.

“Avoid flooded areas until water has receded,” the fair said.

Rain and storms are expected throughout the majority of Wednesday and into the morning of Sept. 3.

This is a developing story.
