TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – You’re invited to celebrate the Black history, culture and community of Manhattan’s historic Yuma Street District.
The second annual Yuma Street Cultural Festival is Sunday, Sept. 6. Sheila Ellis-Glasper, founder of the Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills; Cierra Williamsnon, a Manhattan High School student who is interning to assist with the event; and Dave Baker, the visionary behind the Yuma Street Cultural Center and former K-State baseball coach, visited Eye on NE Kansas with a preview.
The event will feature live DJs, performances, dancing, soul food, historical tours, a kids zone, vendors and more. Watch the interview to hear some of this year’s new additions.
The Yuma Street Cultural Festival runs 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6 at the Douglass Center Complex and the Historic Yuma St. District in Manhattan.
It is free. Donations will be accepted for the Yuma Street Cultural Center.
