As soon as the calendar hits Sept. 1, I am automatically in fall mode. Sure, it’s currently sunny, humid and about 90 degrees where I live. The weather’s not exactly giving me the cozy fall vibes I spend the year yearning for, but it does lend itself very well to ice cream.

So when I saw that Dairy Queen was dropping a lineup of new fall flavors, I got excited. Surely these novelties would be the ideal way to celebrate autumn amid a heatwave. While I enjoyed both of the new fall treats (and a returning fan-fave), there was one that totally made me nostalgic in the best way possible.

Here is the new fall menu lineup, when you can try it, and how the treats taste.

What are the new Dairy Queen fall menu items?

If you’re a big DQ fan like me, then you probably eagerly await the return of the iconic Pumpkin Pie Blizzard. This is a winner in the lineup, and I honestly think I enjoy it more than a slice of actual pumpkin pie. It just tastes like a pumpkin pie milkshake: creamy, pumpkin-spiced and full of flaky pie crust bits. Those little bits of crunchy crusts are my favorite part.

But this year, two new treats have joined the menu:

Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Blizzard: Brown sugar cookie dough pieces and brown sugar topping blended with the world-famous DQ soft serve.

Toasted Marshmallow Mocha DQ Coffee Cooler: Cold brew blended with DQ soft serve, lined with cocoa fudge and garnished with whipped topping and more cocoa fudge.

For an additional 95 cents at my Dairy Queen, I had the option of adding extra brown sugar cookie dough pieces to the Blizzard. I highly recommend doing this, because they are bursting with brown sugar flavor and bring so much texture to the treat. In fact, this is my hack: For maximum enjoyment, get a Pumpkin Pie and a Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Blizzard and combine both flavors on your spoon. It’s basically every fall flavor in one bite!

But the real MVP of the bunch was the Toasted Marshmallow Coffee Cooler. I am a huge fan of marshmallow-flavored anything—and especially at Dairy Queen. Each sip was toasty marshmallow and chocolate delight! It’s kind of like s’mores, but with no graham cracker flavor. The toasted mocha even gave the drink a hint of bitterness, which helped it deliver on flavor without going overboard on sweetness as marshmallow is wont to do.

When can you try the new Dairy Queen fall menu items?

All of these treats are available now at participating Dairy Queen locations nationwide while supplies last. The seasonal flavors are really great, and tasting them immediately transported me to tailgate season. Whether the weather wants to follow suit or not is unfortunately not in my control!
