Mahopac resident Craig Streeter remains missing a month after he was last seen in Indian Lake on Sunday, Aug. 2, according to an update released by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on Wednesday, Sept. 2. 

Over the past two and a half weeks, DEC Forest Rangers have joined dozens of personnel from several other agencies, including New York State Police, in searching the Moose River Plains area of Hamilton County. 

Since Aug. 17, crews have searched more than 728 linear miles and 2,514 acres, according to DEC. 

As Daily Voice previously reported, the search began after Forest Rangers discovered Streeter’s RV at campsite 36 on Moose River Road in the Town of Inlet with no known recent activity. 

Investigators determined Streeter had last been seen at a Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake on Aug. 2 before leaving in his RV. He was also last heard from that day. 

State Police previously said Streeter frequently travels and camps in remote areas and that it was not unusual for him to go for periods without contacting others. Authorities had also said there were no indications of foul play.
