Chazy Central Rural Junior-Senior High School boys’ soccer is going back to another New York state final four. The Eagles’ 2-0 victory over the Northville High School Falcons in the Class D regional championship helped Chazy get two wins closer to earning their 11th state championship. This victory was a redemption win for Chazy after losing to Northville in the 2024 Class D state semifinals. “Everyone knew we were coming into this game that we lost to them,” said Chazy junior midfielder Landon Duprey. “It just gave us a little boost. We didn’t want to lose twice and we’re just going to play that much harder.” Chazy got off to a quick start in the first half. Zeke McLennan buried the first goal of the game after shooting across his body and nailing the top of the net for a 1-0 Chazy lead. Duprey would score the game’s second and final goal, after a through ball from McLennan put him in front of the net for an easy score on goal. Henry Kapp posted a shutout performance in net for the Eagles as the team’s starting goalie. Chazy was thrilled to add another regional championship to a long list of accolades from a season that has seen it earn its 41st sectional championship and amass over 1,000 career wins. “It feels like we’ve had little milestones along the way,” Duprey said. “The 1,000th win and just other things to get up here. This is just another big win that could lead us towards winning a state championship, hopefully.”The Chazy girls’ soccer team will also be heading to the New York state final four after a 2-1 overtime victory against Chateaugay High School in their Class D regional final. Emma Howell scored on a pair of goals, including the overtime game-winner.The other three Section VI squads who competed in the Regional Finals this afternoon were unable to advance to the New York state final four. Northeastern Clinton High School boys’ soccer was blanked by Westhill 3-0 in the Class B regional finals. Northern Adirondack High School boys’ soccer was shut out by North Salem in the Class C Regional Finals, 5-0. Ticonderoga High School girls’ soccer lost 5-0 as well, in the girls’ regional championship against Stillwater high school.
