On Sept. 2, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol located a deceased adult male in Golden Valley’s Twin Lake using an underwater, remotely-operated vehicle.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that they entered the lake with the remotely-operated vehicle to search for a missing person. The body was found in about 19 feet of water.
The individual recovered from the lake was turned over to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the individual’s identity and official cause of death.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner investigates all sudden and unexpected deaths in Hennepin, Dakota and Scott counties. Generally, information becomes public once their autopsy is complete. According to their public database, there were 14 instances of drowning in 2025.
