Detectives in Queens are investigating after a man was found dead with a stab wound next to a parked car during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to police sources, officers from the 106th Precinct were called to 87th Street and Dumont Avenue in Ozone Park at around 4:38 a.m. on Sept. 2 after a man was spotted on the ground across the street from a nearby residence.
When they arrived, they found a 59-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive lying behind his car with head trauma. Sources familiar with the investigation say the driver’s side door was open and officers found open and empty alcohol containers inside.
Responding officers immediately attempted to perform CPR until EMS arrived and took over life-saving measures, law enforcement sources said. As paramedics worked to save the man’s life, authorities also noticed he had suffered a stab wound to the torso.
EMS rushed the man to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.
The death has not yet been deemed a homicide and will officially be determined by the Chief Medical Examiner.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
