Detectives in Brooklyn are searching for the suspect who fatally beat a man outside his home early on Friday morning.
Law enforcement sources said the deadly attack occurred at about 3:45 a.m. on Sept. 4 near an apartment building at 152 Grattan St., off Varick Avenue, in East Williamsburg
Officers from the 90th Precinct rushed to the scene after receiving a call regarding an assault in progress. When they arrived, they found 42-year-old Florencio Ramos Martinez, who lived at the Grattan Street address, unconscious and unresponsive.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police sources said, it’s believed Martinez had become embroiled in a physical dispute with an unidentified suspect following an argument. During the altercation, it appears he took a punch and fell to the sidewalk, striking his head on the concrete and becoming unconscious.
The circumstances leading up to the argument are unknown, police sources said.
EMS rushed Martinez to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said. No suspect description was available as of publication time.
