On September 2, 2026, at approximately 10:48 a.m., members of the New York State Police responded to Interstate 81 in the town of Tully for a reported personal injury motor vehicle crash.

The investigation determined that a 2023 Subaru operated by a 24-year-old female, from Binghamton, NY, was traveling northbound on Interstate 81 in the passing lane when she lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway. The Subaru subsequently struck a guiderail before entering the travel lanes and colliding at a right angle with a 2009 Peterbilt tractor-trailer traveling northbound in the driving lane.

The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the tractor-trailer, Christopher A. Tomlinson, age 54, of Stony Point, NY, was not injured.

The tractor-trailer is owned by CW Bulk Transportation.

The crash is believed to be weather-related at this time.
