LeRoy, N.Y. — A wrong-way crash on the New York State Thruway in Genesee County left one person dead and another seriously injured late Friday night.

New York State Police said troopers responded just before 11 p.m. to a fatal three-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 eastbound in LeRoy.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates a pickup truck operated by Josias Perez, a 26-year-old man from Caruthers, California, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided with an SUV. A tractor-trailer was also involved in the crash.

Police said Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV’s driver was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with internal injuries. The two occupants of the tractor-trailer were not injured.

The eastbound lanes of the Thruway were temporarily closed in the area while state police conducted crash reconstruction. The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
