A quiet residential block in Jackson Heights was transformed into an armed camp moments after an allegedly armed man barricaded himself into an apartment on 85th Street on the night of Friday, Sept. 4.
Officers from the 115th Precinct responded to a 911 call at 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 4 reporting shots fired at 85-05 35th Ave.
They arrived at the scene within minutes at the Queen Elizabeth apartments, just a half dozen blocks west of the precinct. Cops were informed by residents that a man had barricaded himself inside one of the building units.
Members of the NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) came to the location and gained entry into the apartment. A person of interest was taken into custody without incident, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
There were no injuries reported, and no arrests had been made as of midday Saturday, the police spokesperson added. The investigation remains ongoing.
