TEL AVIV (VINnews) — Israeli budget carrier Israir will begin direct flights between Tel Aviv and New York City on Sept. 15, joining El Al and Arkia on the route, Channel 12 reported Sunday.

The new service will operate between Ben Gurion Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport as nonstop flights between the United States and Israel remain limited and expensive after repeated cancellations tied to the wars in Gaza and Iran.
Israir will initially fly the route three times a week and plans to increase service to daily flights by the end of October, according to the report.
One-way tickets will initially be priced at $950, with round-trip fares starting at $1,900. Channel 12 said the round-trip price is expected to fall to $1,600 by the end of the Jewish holiday season in mid-October.
The launch would add a third Israeli airline to the Tel Aviv-New York market at a time when capacity has been constrained and fares have stayed high.
