If you like to plan ahead, there are two dates that you will want to put on your calendar. There are two dates coming up before the end of 2026 when all the Walmart Stores in New York will be closed.

Walmart Will Close Down All Stores In New York State

Walmart announced that every store in New York State will be closed twice before the end of the year. Walmart stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and on Christmas Day. The mega retailer announced it will shut down every store to allow employees to spend the holidays with family and friends.

Walmart will be open both before and after each holiday. Walmart stores are expected to reopen at 6 am on Black Friday for shopping deals. The stores will also reopen at 6 am on the day after Christmas.

New York Stores Closed On Thanksgiving and Christmas

Most big box stores like Target, Kohl’s, Aldi, Lowe’s, and Home Depot will be closed on both holidays. You will also have to get your coffee at home on those holidays as Tim Horton’s will be closed as well.

New York State Open On Thanksgiving And Christmas

There are several stores that are open with modified hours on the holiday. Grocery stores like Wegmans and Tops Markets will be open on the holiday for any last-minute needs. Other stores like Starbucks, McDonald’s. Wendy’s and many gas stations will be open for people traveling.

I used to work in retail, and I always loved the idea of having the holidays off. It gives everyone a chance to relax before a very hectic day after, especially on Black Friday.
