A 58-year-old man was fatally struck by an MTA bus in Brooklyn on Saturday night, police said.
The man was struck around 8 p.m. on Nostrand Avenue, near Clarendon Road, in East Flatbush, according to the NYPD.
Police said the MTA bus was traveling south on Nostrand Avenue when it pulled into a marked bus stop on the west side of the street.
As the bus pulled away from the curb, the man stepped off the sidewalk and was struck by the rear right side of the bus.
The man was thrown to the ground, police said.
According to police, the 43-year-old bus operator was unaware of the collision and continued along her scheduled route.
The man was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not released his identity pending notification of his family.
There have been no arrests. The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
The MTA on Saturday referred a request for comment to the NYPD.
