Brooklyn resident Ronald Rashad Givhan, age 42, was apprehended in Brooklyn on Monday, Sept. 7, following a joint investigation by the New Rochelle Police Department, the NYPD, and the FBI, New Rochelle Police announced on Tuesday, Sept. 8. 

Police said the New Rochelle case began at around 4:39 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, when officers responded to 23 1st St. for a reported serious domestic assault. There, a 31-year-old New Rochelle woman had suffered significant injuries to her face and eye after allegedly being pistol-whipped, police said.

Initial reports indicated Givhan was still inside the apartment, but responding officers determined he had fled before they arrived. 

As detectives investigated the assault, they learned Givhan was also wanted by the NYPD in connection with a double homicide in the Bronx in June 2026, according to New Rochelle Police. Working with the FBI and NYPD, New Rochelle detectives developed leads that brought investigators to an apartment in Brooklyn, the department said.

On Monday, New Rochelle and NYPD detectives and FBI agents found Givhan inside the apartment and took him into custody without incident, police said. A firearm was also recovered at the scene. 

Givhan remains in NYPD custody in connection with the Bronx homicide investigation, according to New Rochelle Police.

He is expected to face first-degree assault in New Rochelle once charges are formally filed with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. Court dates will then be scheduled.
