BOROUGHWIDE — GOV. KATHY HOCHUL on Wednesday released new renderings of stations for the Interborough Express, a planned $5.5 billion light rail connection between Brooklyn and Queens. The governor emphasized the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is prioritizing accessibility, with upgrades in the works at four subway stations that will connect to the line. Once complete, these upgrades will result in each of the IBX’s 18 stations being fully accessible, with connections to 17 subway lines and the Long Island Rail Road.
The MTA is currently adding ADA accessibility to the Broadway Junction A/C/J/Z/L station and the Junius Street 3 station, and new connection to the Livonia L and the Avenue I F station. A contract for accessibility work at the Wilson Avenue L stop will be awarded by mid-2027.

IBX stations will provide clear sightlines, tactile floor tiles leading to wide fare gates, pass-through elevators with wider cabs, level boarding and other accessible features.
