The New York Giants set an all-time franchise record with their 11th consecutive road loss on Sunday, falling to the Chicago Bears, 24-20, at a snowy Soldier Field.
It was the fourth time this season that the Giants held a double-digit lead on the road and ended up losing the game. It was also the latest in a string of fourth-quarter collapses in which a victory was in sight.
Leading 20-10 with roughly 10:00 to play, the Giants’ defense buckled, allowing 14 unanswered points while the offense, behind veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who was replacing the injured Jaxson Dart (concussion), failed to make a play when necessary.
With the loss, the Giants fall to 2-8 on the season.

The Giants’ defense has surrendered 75 points in the fourth quarter over the last four games, including a 17-yard Caleb Williams touchdown run with under 2:00 remaining on Sunday.
Bears 24, Giants 20
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams singlehandedly kept hope alive late in the fourth quarter, escaping countless sacks en route to a nine-play, 91-yard drive that was capped off with a two-yard touchdown to wide receiver Rome Odunze.

Injury update: Dart concussion
Jaxson Dart has officially been ruled out for the game with a concussion.
Safety Tyler Nubin was the latest Giant to suffer an injury, lying on the grass after a collision with Bears tight end Colston Loveland. Nubin was listed as questionable to return.
Nubin eventually returned to the game.
Injury alert: LB Kayvon Thibodeaux
The Giants are dropping like flies, and linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux is the latest banged up. He appeared to suffer a shoulder/arm injury on a fourth-down stop with 8:40 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Thibodeaux eventually returned to the game.
After Russell Wilson, replacing the injured Jaxson Dart, led the Giants on a 10-play, 79-yard drive, head coach Brian Daboll called in scared, settling for a 19-yard field goal instead of going for the throat on a fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line.
Giants 20, Bears 10
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was not on the field to start the fourth quarter, replaced by veteran Russell Wilson. Dart was banged up on his fumble and was sent to the blue medical tent after initially avoiding that.
After recovering a Jaxson Dart fumble, the Bears offense — thanks in part to two key penalties on cornerback Deonte Banks — drove 80 yards on eight plays, but were forced to settle for a 22-yard field goal.
At a minimum, it was a six-point swing and potentially more.

Injury alert: DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches
With time ticking away in the third quarter, Giants defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches suffered an undisclosed injury. Trainers quickly attended to him on the field before he slowly walked off.
Nacho was designated as questionable to return with a toe injury.
Turnover, injury alert: QB Jaxson Dart
On a second-and-6 from the Chicago 28-yard line, Jaxson Dart took off on a designed run but had the ball punched out. In an attempt to recover it, the rookie took a few big hits and appeared to bounce his head off the turf.
The Bears recovered the fumble, and Dart was slow to get up and to the sideline. However, he did not receive any attention from the trainers.
Linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (pec) has returned to the game.
With little help around him, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is carrying the Giants on his back.
After receiving the second half kickoff (solid return by cornerback Deonte Banks), Dart led the offense on a six-play, 56-yard drive that culminated with a 24-yard touchdown run — his second of the game.
Giants 17, Bears 7
Wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring) has returned to the game.
After another turnover on downs (four in the game total), the Giants took over with just 1:08 remaining in the first half. Quarterback Jaxson Dart proceeded to push the ball down the field — aided by wide receiver Gunner Olszewski breaking up an interception in the endzone — before kicker Younghoe Koo put the Giants up with a 32-yard field goal.
It was an eight-play, 53-yard drive.

Injury alert: LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles
After being absolutely bowled over by Bears running back D’Andre Swift on fourth down, Giants linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles left the field and headed into the blue medical tent with an apparent neck/head injury. He is listed as questionable to return.
Injury alert: WR Darius Slayton
Following a turnover on downs, wide receiver Darius Slayton was being looked at by trainers and then ushered into the locker room.
The Giants listed him as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.
Despite snowy conditions and wind gusts in excess of 35 MPH, Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart orchestrated a six-play, 80-yard drive that he capped off by calling his own number on a three-yard touchdown run.
Dart is the first quarterback in NFL history with a rushing touchdown in five straight games.
Giants 7, Bears 7
On a second-and-10 pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Darius Slayton pulled in an incredible one-handed catch for 31 yards. Check it out:
Rookie linebacker appeared to suffer an injury on a third-and-4 with under 1:00 remaining in the first quarter. On the subsequent punt, Carter was struggling to move and walked gingerly off the field.
With snow coming down, the Bears brought the crowd to life with an eight-play, 47-yard drive that was capped off by an eight-yard Kyle Monangai touchdown run.
Bears 7, Giants 0
After taking over from the Bears, the Giants’ offense mirrored the opening offensive drive of the game, turning the ball over on downs (sack of quarterback Jaxson Dart).
After a few positive plays through the air, the Giants’ defense stiffened and nearly came up with an interception (Cor’Dale Flott). Feeling confident, the Bears went for it on fourth-and-4, but the pass deep into the endzone fell incomplete.
The Bears have won the pre-kickoff coin toss and elected to receive. They will start on offense, and the Giants will receive the kickoff to start the second half.
The Giants have listed seven players as inactive for Sunday’s game against the Bears.
