Russell J. Long, 46, of Ellenville, was arrested for the shooting that occurred around 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 in Ellenville, New York State Police said.
The victim was a 43-year-old man from Jamaica, Queens, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, according to state police. The person was initially identified as a 46-year-old man.
Long fired multiple shots in a “popular suburban area” and hit the victim, state troopers said. He was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree weapons possession, and reckless endangerment, authorities said.
He was arraigned in Ulster County court and held in county jail without bail, state police said. The victim was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
