In a nightmare scenario for the New York Giants, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart left Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears after suffering an injury late in the third quarter.
Dart took a designed run off the left side and found himself sandwiched by a trio of Bears defenders. The ball was punched out of his hands, and in an attempt to recover it, he absorbed a few additional hits. His head also appeared to hit the ground with some force.
Dart was not immediately sent into the medical tent, but that changed as the fourth quarter began. He was evaluated for a concussion and then sent to the locker room.
At the time of his exit, Dart had completed 19 of his 29 passes for 242 yards. He also rushed the ball six times for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
Dart was spelled by veteran quarterback Russell Wilson and eventually ruled out, confirming the concussion.
