NY’s Wealthy Population Rose Despite Tax

New York’s millionaire population grew by nearly 2,000 in a single year, even as the state hiked up the top marginal tax rate for most wealthy filers, according to a Washington think tank’s report on recent IRS data.

While opponents of taxing the wealthy say such an adjustment would drive millionaires out of New York City, Groundwork Collaborative says the IRS data tell a different story.
