Immediately after the attacks in 2001, the Daffodil Project was born.
Thousands of volunteers joined the group, New Yorkers for Parks, to plant flowers in every borough to honor the victims of 9/11. Twenty-five years later, volunteers have planted more than 10 million daffodils.
The flowers now honor not only those who died on 9/11, but also COVID-19 victims. The daffodils also help promote local parks and the importance of maintaining them.
The executive director of New Yorkers for Parks, Adam Ganser, spoke with Rocco Vertuccio Saturday morning on “Weekends on 1.”
