NEW YORK — New York State Police said it gave out 11,201 tickets statewide on Labor Day weekend. It was part of an enforcement period that ran from Friday through Monday.
It was partially funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. State police used sobriety checkpoints, along with DWI patrols, to tackle impaired and distracted driving.
A total of 253 people were arrested on DWI charges, and 632 were investigated crashes. Additionally, there were five deadly crashes during that timeframe.
