SPARTANBURG — Just days after the abduction of a 12-year-old who was rescued from an Arkansas man’s home, deputies say another Spartanburg County teenager was kidnapped and subsequently found safe hundreds of miles away.

Deputies received a report just before 5 p.m. on Sept. 11 that a 14-year-old from Spartanburg was reported missing, according to a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Friends and family members said the teen had been communicating with someone who claimed to be from New York, according to authorities.

Investigators identified that person as 22-year-old Ceasar Daniel Palacios-Escalon of Long Island, N.Y., who they determined was in Spartanburg County when the 14-year-old was last seen, the news release said.

N.Y. State Police stopped Palacios-Escalon at 1 a.m. Sept. 12, according to the sheriff’s office. He’s being held in New York on local charges, and Spartanburg County deputies have issued an arrest warrant on a kidnapping charge.

The teen is in protective custody in New York.
