NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Heavy rain in New York City and other parts of the tri-state area prompts flash flood warnings and a flood watch through noon Sunday.
The greatest flooding risk is expected through late morning, with rainfall totals between 1.25 and 1.75 inches, with higher amounts possible.
New York City, southern Westchester, northeast New Jersey and coastal Connecticut are included in the watch.
Conditions are expected to improve Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Drivers should avoid flooded streets, use extra caution in low‑lying areas and never attempt to drive through floodwater.
